Also this year, the famous
Chess Game of Marostica
with living people is represented on the great marble chess-board in the Castle square. This antique event takes place every second Sunday of September on even numbered years and it involves over 600 characters wearing medieval clothes.
A dive into the historical and folkloristic tradition of the Veneto region, with the opportunity to discover its local tastes and flavours... from the past until now!
1st day - Wednesdays 10th September
Arrival in Marostica (VI) in the afternoon.
• 6.30 p.m. - Dinner in a local restaurant.
• 8.30 p.m. - Accommodation on the numbered seats (central stand).
• 9.00 p.m. - The Chess Game starts in Piazza degli Scacchi.
• 11.10 p.m. - End of the performance.
• Overnight stay and breakfast buffet in a 3*** hotel.
2nd day- Saturday 11th September
• 9.00 a.m. - Guided tour in the historical centre of Marostica (VI). Possible nature trail to arrive at the Upper Castle and admire the wonderful panorama.
• 11.30 a.m. - Departure for Bassano del Grappa (VI) for a walk through the historical centre with the famous Old Bridge, called ‘Ponte degli Alpini’.
Visit to Museo della Grappa Poli (a Grappa Museum set up by the Poli family) with tasting.
• 1.00 p.m. - Lunch in a restaurant with a special menu with local products of the Veneto region.
• Free-time for shopping in the centre.
• 5.00 p.m. - Departure for a visit to a cellar of the territory with tasting of wine, olive oil, tipycal cheese and salami.
And for whom wants to leave the following day:
• Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight stay in a 3*** hotel.
