Length of stay: 3 days / 2 nights
7th-8th-9th September 2012
This antique event takes place every second week end of September on even numbered years and it involves over 600 characters wearing medieval clothes. The story of the Chess Game dates back to 1454 when Marostica belonged to the Venetian Republic and when two brave soldiers, Rinaldo da Angarano and Viero da Vallonara, fell desperately in love with the beautiful Lionora, daughter of the Lord of Marostica. To determine who would win her hand in marriage, they decided to fight a duel, as was the custom at the time.
