They say of this mountain “… It is the devil who designed it. It is a slope that burns more than 700 meters in altitude, in a climb not only difficult to carry out, but also difficult to say: Calà del Sasso, 4444 steps forged by the devil to get to heaven.”
The “Calà”, which has been for centuries a network hub for communication and exchange of goods and timber, is flanked by a ditch where the logs were thrown from Valstagna into the Brenta river, to get to Venice, where they were used for the construction of ships by the Serenissima.
